so much to do
so little time
living for tomorrow
but tomorrow never comes
struggling through today
but today never ends
tomorrow becomes today
again and again
time is everything
it was, is and will be
easily confuse with God
omnipresent – can’t live without it
we see its effects on us
but hardly contemplate its existence
we live for tomorrow
neglecting today
today is gone
but tomorrow’s still a day away
so many dreams for a better world
so many hopes for a better day
but time is here to stay
manifested as a chain
of linking moments
pulling us along
like a steady river stream
yet we think we’re the ones
making progress forward
pulling time
but time pulls us
time – my constant friend
it will never leave me
oh, faithful abstract concept
how you consume my life!
time gives me space
to learn, to think,
to act, to pray
time is not money
it is evidence of life
time will fill my pockets
no matter what I do
or do not
we say we’ll “make time”
but it’s always been there
we’ve just eclipsed it
with boring paper work
with maintaining our investments
it’s all I have
it overflows
yet I never have enough
what am I chasing?
as if it‘s leaving?
time is chasing me
away from today
away from this vital moment
where I am to be
what I was created for
“i’ll give you some time”
no, you’ll acknowledge shared space within time
a space to recognize the other
by listening authentically
time is a strange thing
it scares us into busy frenzies
chaotic busyness
our companion called efficiency
or is it our nemesis?
robbing us of valuable moments…
silence, rest, presence, prayer
listening to our selves, others, God
time is what we make of it
we can’t click forward or rewind
we can only live in it
time is going nowhere
but pushes us away
from this precious
present moment
the present we are always in
the moment that always is
taste it, touch it
love it, live it
take it, give it
use it, share it
whatever we do
we must realize its beauty
time is here to stay
but we can only act in each moment
“now” was the future
when you read the lines above
but now it is the past
an evasive mist
life is a series of moments
intense but dissolving moments
moments of dreams
becoming history
triumphs and regrets
embrace this time
it’s a gift to us
though cage-like at times
claustrophobic deadlines
or never ending waiting
a hell with no walls
yet suffocating
let us learn from time
look back and forward
embrace this gift
this pivotal moment
the building block of change
the seed of new life
we sprint through time
as if to beat it
but it’s a marathon
we spend time, make time
create and allot it
we hoard time then waste it
we save it then check it
to make sure we’re being obedient
busy slaves punishing ourselves
for overstaying or slowing down
for getting lost in the beauty
that we live for
we chase time in circles
time is here to stay
and yet
life is but a dissolving
moment
now is the time
the moment
