“In prayer we meet Christ, and in him all human suffering.  In service we meet people, and in them the suffering Christ.”

OSCAR MURIU @ URBANA

The triennial student mission conference in North America just took place between Christmas and New Years.  Oscar Muriu, a pastor from Kenya, spoke profound words regarding how we have done mission and how we should check our posture and approach in the years to come.  Speaking on incarnation, he calls this generation to approach the poor in the Majority World with humility and a posture of learning.  Standing up for the poor who we try to empower, he said we should, "keep our mouths shut long enough for the poor to speak."  His words sting, but they're necessary and in love.  He reminds us how Jesus came to earth as a vulnerable baby who put his well-being in the hands of those he came to serve.  He went from power to powerlessness - from life to death.  He went from privilege to poverty.  This video will help you understand a bit about the approach my team is using in K-town.  Enjoy!
